CEE Bankwatch Network is hiring a Budget Specialist!
Are you passionate about numbers and driven by purpose? Join CEE Bankwatch Network as a Budget Specialist and play a key role in advancing environmental and social justice across central and eastern Europe.
We're looking for a detail-oriented and strategic professional to lead, enhance, and standardise our budgeting processes. You'll be responsible for managing and administering organisational budgets, ensuring timely and accurate financial data and projections are available to support effective decision-making and grant management.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the organisation's budgeting processes for an annual budget of EUR 4.8 million, managing over 30 international grants and staff across multiple countries.
- Create, maintain, or procure tools necessary to support budget processes.
- Ensure timely and dynamic updates of the operational and long-term budgets.
- Develop and manage a budget tracking system while monitoring budget utilisation.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for stakeholders, including our Executive Committee, Management Team, Strategic Area Leaders, and Campaign Leaders.
- Collaborate with the Finance Team to allocate and track expenses in line with grant budgets.
- Work closely with our fundraising and programme teams to prepare budgets for grant applications.
Essential skills and requirements
- Strong expertise in budgeting, financial forecasting, and cost-control principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate and relay information among management, finance, and non-finance staff.
- Strong numerical skills and analytical thinking.
- Extensive experience with accounting practices and procedures.
- Excellent Excel skills, including use of data processing tools such as Power Query and Power Pivot.
- Experience with the HELIOS accounting system and Power BI is an asset.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate situations lacking standard procedures.
- Ability to clearly communicate financial data to lay audiences.
- Degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in financial planning and budget monitoring within the NGO sector
Location: The position can be based in any of Bankwatch's countries of operation in central and eastern Europe. Please refer to the list of eligible countries on our website. Applicants should have the necessary legal status to work in one of our relevant countries.
