Project HOPE, the People-to-People Health Foundation, is a global health and humanitarian non-profit organization with 65 years of experience in more than 25 countries. We empower local health workers, respond to urgent health needs, and strengthen community resilience through 500+ programs worldwide.

In Poland, Project HOPE focuses on long-term refugee integration, particularly for those living outside administrative centers and large cities. Our work includes case management, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and building local community capacities.

Project HOPE Polska is opening a new role!
The Community Engagement Officer will play a vital role in implementing psychosocial, integrative, and empowerment-focused activities in collective accommodation centers and local communities. The goal is to strengthen psychosocial well-being, social skills, and integration of displaced persons while fostering autonomy, resilience, and social cohesion. This position calls for creativity, empathy, and adaptability to respond to the evolving needs of diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Psychosocial Support

  • Facilitate workshops and activities that promote personal growth, social competencies, and community belonging.
  • Provide basic psychosocial support and referrals to specialized services.
  • Foster safe, inclusive spaces that encourage dialogue and resilience.

Community Mobilization & Capacity Building

  • Support community-driven actions that encourage participation and integration.
  • Build connections between displaced persons, host communities, and local institutions.
  • Mentor volunteers and peer leaders to sustain engagement activities.

Partnerships & Outreach

  • Establish partnerships with local institutions, NGOs, and community networks.
  • Map and connect communities with service providers and resources.
  • Act as a bridge between displaced and host populations.

Monitoring, Learning & Strategy

  • Assess needs, gather feedback, and adapt programming accordingly.
  • Document activities and share lessons learned with the program team.
  • Contribute to new initiatives, proposals, and advocacy efforts to expand community-based support.

Candidate Profile

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field.

Experience: At least 2 years in community engagement, social work, or psychosocial support, preferably with displaced populations or in humanitarian contexts.

  • Strong IT literacy (MS Office)
  • Knowledge of MHPSS principles and safeguarding policies
  • Facilitation of workshops and group activities
  • Driving license category B – desirable
  • Willingness to work in the field 3–4 times per week.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team

Technical Skills:

Languages: Fluency in Polish  (Ukrainian or Russian is a strong advantage)

Soft Skills: Empathy, adaptability, strong communication skills, and the ability to engage diverse communities.
