International Research Team (IRT) at Ecorys Poland currently seeks a highly-motivated Junior Consultant/ Consultant with an interest in research and knowledge of the Ukrainian context to assist in  developing of our portfolio.

Ecorys is a leading European research and consulting provider in the public sector with offices in Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, the UK, Croatia, Bulgaria and Poland. We offer monitoring and evaluation services, research, technical assistance, grant management and capacity building in over 100 countries, working for such clients as the European Commission, the European Parliament, key EU agencies, the World Bank, the United Nations and various national and regional governments as well as international organisations. The candidate is predominately going to support our current M&E work and acquisition in Ukraine in a number of thematic areas (e.g. humanitarian assistance, social inclusion, employment and education, energy, and environment). Depending on his/her interest, s/he could be involved in research at the EU level and/or work for other clients.

About the role:

As part of the International Research Team, you will be responsible for:

·         Supporting the processes of proposal preparation and implementation of research projects for European and international institutions;

·         Conducting high-quality research (incl. interviews with stakeholders and beneficiaries of EU policies, programmes and projects, surveys, focus group discussions, desk research) and analysis;

·         Supporting process of preparation reports for European and international clients;

·         Supporting management of projects in different countries inside and outside EU

Required experience:

·         Strong academic background: Master’s or equivalent in law, sociology, public policy, politics or a related discipline completed or ongoing at reputed Polish or foreign universities (or mixed);

·         Understanding of Ukrainian context and some previous work experience in Ukraine or other Eastern European countries;

  • Excellent (C1) English academic writing skills (candidates are asked to provide their publications and/or prepare a short case study); fluent Ukrainian and/or Russian required

     Interest in EU policies or the development assistance in one of the following areas:

1.            social policy: employment and skills, education, social protection and inclusion, health, gender equality, research and innovation policies,

2.            sustainable development: just transition, energy, climate change, circular economy, biodiversity, blue economy

3.            security and justice: e.g. migration, home affairs, defence, human rights, digital threats and transformation.

·         Interest in research and evaluations, strong analytical skills, knowledge of quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods (preferably evidenced by participation in research projects during studies or elsewhere);

·         Knowledge of European policy-making processes and EU Institutions or/and knowledge of development actors/context; previous working experience (incl. traineeships) welcome;

·         Pro-active, able to self-management and eager to take initiative in business acquisition.
