Doctors Without Borders (MSF, Médecins Sans Frontières) is an international, independent medical humanitarian organization operating in over 70 countries around the world. MSF brings essential humanitarian aid to the victims of armed conflicts, epidemics and natural disasters, as well as to communities excluded from access to health care. In our activities, we are guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality.
Since 2022, MSF has been offering emergency medical care to people trapped in the forested areas between Poland and Belarus. Our teams provide first aid for violence-related injuries, frostbite, hypothermia, and other health conditions resulting from prolonged exposure to harsh environments.

MSF’s Operational Center in Brussels operating in Poland since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine is looking for candidates for the following position:

Medical Activity Manager – paramedic

Location: Białystok, Poland (with flexibility for professional travel within Poland)
Contract Type: Full-time

Main Purpose

The Medical Activity Manager (MAM) acts as a technical consultant and coordinator, ensuring that MSF-supported partners and networks deliver quality medical assistance in line with MSF standards and humanitarian principles. The role focuses on capacity building, technical guidance, and coordination to improve access to health services for vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities

Coordination & Technical Support:

  • Provide consultative guidance to partner organizations on medical protocols and best practices.
  • Support hotline operations  by advising on minor complaints and ensuring referral pathways for complex cases.
  • Facilitate training sessions on forest medicine and emergency care for partner organizations and volunteers.
  • Advise on medical supply management (lists, procurement, distribution) 
  • Close cooperation with partner medical entity. 
  • Coordinate meetings with partners and stakeholders to strengthen collaboration.
  • Support development and revision of medical algorithms and dispatch training materials.
  • Explore partnerships with regional initiatives (e.g. Alarm Phone Latvia/Lithuania) to enhance response capacity.

Data & Reporting:

  • Oversee data collection processes and provide training on database use for activists and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the Humanitarian Activity Manager (HAM) to ensure accurate reporting and analysis for advocacy purposes.
  • Participate in monthly coordination meetings and contribute to database development.

Hospital & Case Management Support:

  • Act as a liaison with hospitals and partner organizations to facilitate patient referrals and continuity of care.
  • Provide technical advice on complex cases and medico-legal documentation needs.
  • Support advocacy efforts by identifying gaps in medical access and escalating findings to central level when necessary.

Health Promotion & Advocacy:

  • Work with the HP Manager to develop health promotion materials (digital and print).
  • Contribute to advocacy initiatives by gathering data on systemic gaps and supporting MSF’s humanitarian voice.

Requirements

Paramedical degree or equivalent health qualification.

Experience in medical coordination, consultancy, or capacity-building roles.

Familiarity with MSF protocols or humanitarian medical standards.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to work in complex environments and adapt to changing priorities.

Fluency in Polish and English; working knowledge of Russian/Belarusian or other languages is an asset.

Experience of working with in MSF or other international NGO.
