Doctors Without Borders (MSF, Médecins Sans Frontières) is an international, independent medical humanitarian organization operating in over 70 countries around the world. MSF brings essential humanitarian aid to the victims of armed conflicts, epidemics and natural disasters, as well as to communities excluded from access to health care. In our activities, we are guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality.
Since 2022, MSF has been offering emergency medical care to people trapped in the forested areas between Poland and Belarus. Our teams provide first aid for violence-related injuries, frostbite, hypothermia, and other health conditions resulting from prolonged exposure to harsh environments.
MSF’s Operational Center in Brussels operating in Poland since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine is looking for candidates for the following position:
Humanitarian Affairs Manager
Main Purpose of the position:
The Humanitarian Affairs Manager is responsible for managing all humanitarian affairs and advocacy activities of MSF Belgium in Poland, in line with MSF policies and values. The role involves defining strategies, conducting research and analysis, and representing MSF in discussions with authorities and stakeholders to improve access to healthcare for migrants.
Main Accountabilities:
- Define, implement, and coordinate MSF Belgium humanitarian affairs and advocacy activities in Poland
• Identify humanitarian issues of concern and draft advocacy strategies addressing medical and humanitarian priorities.
• Supervise field-level data collection and ensure adherence to MSF ethical guidelines.
• Analyse and report on humanitarian trends, aid system dynamics, and provide regular updates to increase MSF’s advocacy impact.
• Draft talking points, reports, and situation analyses for internal and external use.
• Support the Project Coordinator and Medical Coordinator in positioning MSF projects and ensuring good acceptance.
• Represent MSF in meetings with authorities, civil society, professional associations, and media engagements.
• Lead negotiations with authorities to advocate for improved healthcare access for migrants.
• Organize workshops, briefings, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
• Monitor national and regional humanitarian trends related to migration and share analysis with relevant teams.
• Coordinate with MSF counterparts in Belgium and the Balkans to ensure aligned advocacy strategies.
• Provide translation support for operational documents and meetings when required.
Requirements:
Education: Degree in anthropology, social/political sciences, law, gender studies, or protection. Strong writing, research, and analytical skills. Campaigning/organizational experience is an asset.
Experience:
• Minimum 3 years in humanitarian affairs, research, analysis, or advocacy.
• Previous experience with MSF or other NGOs is an asset
• Solid understanding of humanitarian debates and the dilemmas of modern humanitarian interventions.
• Languages: Polish: Native speaker, English: Advanced (C1 proficiency).
Workplace: Warsaw, with frequent travel to other locations in Poland: mainly Białystok and Biała Podlaska
Desired date of start: February 2026
Length of contract: till the end of 2026
Salary: 12 611 PLN gross/month
