Next Engineers is a global post-secondary and career-readiness initiative designed to increase the diversity of young people pursuing engineering pathways. Funded by the GE Aerospace Foundation and managed by FHI 360, an international nonprofit organization, the program provides youth with early exposure to engineering concepts and careers. Next Engineers is implemented by FHI 360 and local partners in multiple countries, including the United States, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. The program launched in Warsaw, Poland in 2025 and is implemented by FHI 360’s local Community Partner, Perspektywy Education Foundation, with activities continuing through 2029.
Each year, Next Engineers conducts research and evaluation activities to assess program implementation and outcomes and to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. The Research and Evaluation Consultant in Warsaw will support FHI 360 through qualitative data collection and analysis aligned to two objectives: (1) annual programmatic evaluation to inform improvement, strengthen local engagement, and support program sustainability in Warsaw; and (2) ongoing research that contributes to cross-site learning and the broader field of engineering education and youth workforce development.
Evaluation and research activities for the Next Engineers Research and Evaluation Consultant will include:
- Plan and coordinate data collection at schools and Next Engineers locations with the support of Perspektywy Education Foundation
- Conduct individual in-depth interviews with Engineering Academy students using research tools developed by FHI 360
- Conduct focus group discussions with students from Engineering Academy and Engineering Discovery, parents of Engineering Academy participants, educators, Perspektywy staff, and GE Aerospace employee volunteers using evaluation tools developed by FHI 360
- Track and document data collection
- Proved written focus group discussion and interview data collection notes
- Conduct data analysis of focus group data or any data collected as part of evaluation activities
- Present Findings to Implementation Teams
- Write Evaluation report
Qualifications:
- Background in engineering education, STEM pathways, youth workforce development, or a related industry in Poland
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in qualitative data collection, analysis, and report writing with specific experience facilitating and analyzing focus group discussions and interviews with diverse participant groups.
- Extensive experience conducting evaluation research with both formative (program improvement) and research-oriented aims.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex qualitative data collection logistics across multiple institutions.
- Proven track record of meeting fixed deliverables and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- No conflict of interest with the project’s implementing partner, Perspektywy Education Foundation
- Completed background check to enter public schools in Poland (must be obtained before Evaluation start date)
- Written and oral fluency in Polish and English
