We are looking for an experienced and motivated Advocacy Director to lead and further develop MFC’s advocacy work at European and national levels. The role builds on MFC’s long-standing advocacy programmes aimed at improving the policy and regulatory environment for microfinance and social finance. The Advocacy Director will play a key role in shaping advocacy strategies, coordinating policy engagement with EU institutions and national Managing Authorities, especially in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Contract type: The position is offered as a permanent contract with a probation period of 6 months. The role is intended to be part-time (3/5) , although other arrangements may be considered.
Remuneration: PLN 18,000–21,000 gross per month (full-time equivalent), depending on experience. The salary will be adjusted proportionally for part-time arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of MFC’s EU advocacy strategy, ensuring it directly supports organisational growth objectives, Members’ interests and positioning of MFC as a strategic EU-level partner.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including appropriate departments in the European Comission, EU institutions and Managing Authorities
- Identify, initiate and develop advocacy‑ and funding‑related partnerships with international organisations, NGOs and EU networks
- Represent MFC in policy dialogues and consultations with EU institutions and other relevant stakeholders
- Monitor, analyse and share information on EU and national policy developments relevant to the sector
- Contribute to organization of conferences and roundtables
- Contribute to organisational learning and external visibility of MFC’s advocacy work
- Monitor EU funding calls and pro-actively identify potential funding opportunities for MFC and its members
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in European studies, Economy, Political Science or other relevant
- 10+ years of professional experience
- 3 + years of proven experience in EU-level advocacy, country-level advocacy, public policy or regulatory work
- Ability to translate complex policy issues into clear advocacy messages
- Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills
- Willingness to travel within Europe
- Proficiency in English and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Strong understanding of EU institutions and policy-making processes
- Knowledge of the microfinance sector
- Experience in working with ESF+ Managing Authorities
- Knowledge of EU funding mechanisms and programmes
Work conditions
Most of the MFC team is based in Poland and works primarily remotely, with one regular day per week in our Warsaw office. For this role, we are open to collaborating with individuals based in Brussels or one of the CEE countries. Number of working hours per week is negotiable - we offer flexibility, with a strong focus on finding the best fit for the role.
